District Governor, Rotarian Olufemi Adenekan’s Message For January: The Vocational Service Month

Happy New Year and Welcome to Vocational Service Month!

With gratitude and joy, I warmly welcome you to 2025—a year brimming with hope and endless possibilities. May this season bring you all you desire and more.

As we commence the second half of the Rotary year, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to each of you for your unwavering support and commitment to the ideals of Rotary. Let us continue to inspire one another to remain People of Action by aligning with Rotary’s strategic plan. Together, we can amplify our impact, broaden our reach, engage participants more effectively, and strengthen our adaptability.

A Special Visit from PRIP Mark Daniel Maloney

This month, we are honoured to welcome Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair PRIP Mark Daniel Maloney and Gay Maloney, who will be visiting us from 15th to 20th January. They will be in Lagos from 18th to 19th January, accompanied by other Rotary leaders, to inspire and encourage contributions to the Rotary Foundation.

I urge all members to register and actively participate in the events scheduled during their visit, as well as other exciting programmes planned for the month. Let us make this a memorable and impactful experience for our district.

January: Vocational Service Month

This month is dedicated to Vocational Service, one of Rotary’s core Avenues of Service. It is an opportunity to reflect on how our vocations can foster ethical practices, address societal challenges, and meet the needs of our communities.

Embracing Vocational Service

Vocational Service calls on us to uphold the highest ethical standards in our professions and recognise the value of every occupation. By applying our vocational skills, we can drive meaningful change and tackle pressing community challenges.

A Call to Action
I encourage all Rotarians to embrace Vocational Service through :

  1. Vocational Talks: Share your professional stories and experiences during club meetings.
  2. Vocational Awards: Honour individuals who exemplify ethical excellence and outstanding professional achievements.
  3. Community Projects: Develop initiatives that address critical community needs using vocational expertise.
  4. Networking: Strengthen connections within Rotary to foster collaboration and service opportunities.

A Message of Hope and Inspiration

As we step into this new year, let us embrace the transformative power of vocational service. Together, we can inspire change, uplift our communities, and leave an enduring legacy.

May 2025 bring you joy, fulfilment, and success as we continue to create the Magic of Rotary.
