(+Photos) Highlight on PETS (Presidents-Elect Training) Seminar, District 9112

On Friday, April 4th, and Saturday, April 5th, 2025, the incoming presidents of various clubs for the 2025-2026 term under the leadership of the incoming District Governor of Rotary International (RI) District 9112, Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin gathered at Orchid Hotels along Lekki Epe Expressway, Ikota, Lagos State for PET seminar

The “Presidents-Elect Training (PET)” Seminar provided a platform for attendees to enhance their leadership skills, share ideas, and network with fellow Rotarians from the district.

As promised by Coordinator for PETS 2025, PAG Onyi-Okafor and the committee, the seminar was truly exceptional. Beyond its informative sessions where participants learned from a diverse group of knowledgeable and inspiring facilitators, they were treated to exquisite cuisine, accommodated in luxurious surroundings, and enjoyed a themed welcome party titled “PETS Vintage Glamour Night,” which added to the event’s charm. There was also a paparazzi session, where presidents-elect had the opportunity to take photos with the incoming district governor.

In keeping with the tradition of Rotary events, the pioneer District Governor of Rotary International District 9112, Rotarian Olufemi Adenekan, accompanied by his spouse, Rotarian Tayo Adenekan, officially opened the seminar. He urged participants to serve diligently and encouraged their involvement in the upcoming installation ceremony for District Governor 2025-2026, Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin.

In his address, the incoming District Governor, Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin, joined by his spouse, Mrs. Iyabo Adedoyin, emphasized the importance of members writing their own narratives, stating that no one can tell their stories as authentically as they can. He addressed the assembly regarding Rotary’s Mission Statement, which highlights Impact, Reach, Engagement, and the capacity to adapt. He encouraged unity among members, stating that “together, we stand.” Furthermore, he urged attendees not only to perform their roles functionally but to strive for effectiveness. In addition, he highlighted the importance of contributing to the Rotary Foundation, designating December 2025 as a key time for giving, and urged clubs to align their service projects with the seven focus areas, particularly focusing on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution.

The Training Seminar according to PAG Nkem Onyi-Okafor, Coordinator for PETS 2025 who thanked the incoming District Governor, Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin for the platform to serve as well as the commended the Learning Committee and Team PETS 2025 for their dedicated efforts, inspired particpants to think creatively, lead effectively, and contribute to the next phase of Rotary’s legacy of ‘Doing Good in the World.’

The District Learning Facilitator is PDG Kola Sodipo, with DGNG Uyi Sowobi serving as the Deputy District Learning Facilitator. Other distinguished facilitators included District Governor Nominee Layi Abidoye, Past Rotary International Vice President Yinka Babalola, Immediate Past District Governor Ifeyinwa Rita Ejezie, and Past District Governors Kamoru Omotosho, Jide Akeredolu, Deinde Shoga, Bola Oyebade, Richard Giwa Osagie, Otunba Bola Onabadejo, Yomi Adewunmi, Tunji Funsho, and Wale Ogunbadejo, along with PAG Antonia Taiwo and PAG Uzo Ogoazi.

The incoming Rotary International President for the 2025-2026 term is Mário César Martins de Camargo from the Rotary Club de Santo André in São Paulo, Brazil. A business consultant in the printing industry, Mário is a former director of Gráfica Bandeirantes, a printing company established by his father. He became a member of Rotary in 1980 at the age of 23.

The incoming District Governor for Rotary International District 9112 (2025-2026) is Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin. He earned his law degree from the esteemed University of Lagos, graduating in 1992. As a distinguished legal expert and Chartered Professional Administrator, he serves as the Principal Partner and Head of Chambers at the Law Firm of T.L. Adedoyin & Co. Lanre joined the Rotary Club of Surulere South on August 21, 2003, and served as Club President during the 2007-2008 Rotary year. Notably, he personally financed the incorporation of Rotary International District 9110 as a legal entity.

The core team for 2025-2026 term under Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin includes District Executive Secretary Past President Omotunde Olaleye, District Treasurer Assistant Governor Adedoyin Odutola, Chief of Staff Assistant Governor Akeem Sunmonu, and Special Assistant Desmond Otakponmwen.
