(+Photos) Highlights from the Rotary Club of Ikeja Legend Charter Presentation and Induction Ceremony

On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, Rotarian (Dr.) Enitan Oteju Ibironke was installed as the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Ikeja Legend, a new club under District 9112, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Gbagada-South, led by President Rotarian Oluwasanu Afolabi.

The club, having officially joined Rotary International with 20 members on June 4, 2025, held its ceremony at its fellowship venue, the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja. The charter president and the members displayed zeal for service, radiating happiness throughout the event.

During the ceremony, Rotarian (Dr.) Ibironke was installed on behalf of Rotary International President Stephanie Urchick, marking the club’s official recognition. The members were inducted and the charter certificate presented to them.

Meanwhile, the CP Rotarian (Dr.) Ibironke received from the pioneer District Governor Rotarian Olufemi Adenekan a “magic of rotary” banner and a diary to support her in her year of service.

District Governor, Rotarian Olufemi Adenekan, who was accompanied by his SA, Rotarian Adewale Abdul, expressed his pleasure in welcoming the new members to Rotary, a distinguished organization founded 120 years ago. He emphasized the importance of the charter presentation, as a meaningful start. He congratulated the new Rotarians and highlighted their vital role in Rotary’s mission and community impact. Heunderscored Rotary’s role in fostering connections and addressing mental health. Lastly, he urged club leaders to be responsible torchbearers in achieving community goals.

New Club Adviser PP Olanrewaju Akosile expressed gratitude for the journey of uniting like-minded individuals, acknowledged challenges, and thanked supporters. He emphasized the club’s mission of service and invited others to join their efforts to improve lives.

In her acceptance speech, the elegant and classy charter president Dr. Enitan Oteju Ibironke expressed heartfelt gratitude to attendees and especially thanked the governor for the honor. She acknowledged the foundation members, both present and those in Abuja and the diaspora, for their support of the club’s mission.

Rotarian Dr. Ibironke emphasized the club’s identity, stating, “We are the legend of Rotary,” and highlighted their commitment to the seven areas of Rotary focus. She excitedly mentioned upcoming projects, including one related to life skills and the environment, and encouraged everyone to enjoy the celebration.

In closing, the charter president thanked everyone for their participation and enthusiasm.
