Installation Highlights of Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin as the 2nd District Governor of RI District 9112
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed confidence that Rotary’s mission will thrive under DG Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin, as stated by his representative, Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, during Rtn. Lanre’s installation as the 2nd District Governor of Rotary International District 9112.
Governor Sanwo-Olu praised Rotarian Lanre’s dedication to service and leadership, highlighting Rotary’s impactful contributions to education, health, youth empowerment, and sustainable development in Lagos. He congratulated the Rotary community for their commitment to creating a better future.
DG Lanre Adedoyin, a distinguished lawyer and Principal Partner at T.L. Adedoyin & Co., was installed on July 5, 2025, at Victoria Garden Event Centre.
The event commenced with a grand procession that featured the council of governors in attendance, including the immediate past district governor, Rtn. Olufemi Adenekan, accompanied by his spouse, Rtn. Tayo Adenekan, Past District Governors Kehinde George Taylor, Kamoru Omotosho, Kola Sodipo, and Jide Akeredolu, alongside the Future governors, DGE Rtn. Layi Abidoye and DGN Rtn. Uyi Sowobi. This was followed by the formal introduction of the highlight of the occasion, District Governor Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin, along with his vibrant spouse, Mrs. Iyabo Adedoyin, and their lovely children, Folarin, Adetola, and Aderayo Adedoyin, who received a warm welcome at the podium. Members of the Rotary Club of Surulere South, the DG’s own club, also played a significant role in ushering in the new district governor and his family, who joyfully danced in their striking green attire.
The ceremony marked the leadership transition from outgoing governor Rtn. Olufemi Adenekan to Lanre Adedoyin. Exciting activities included award recognitions, raffle draws, various giveaways like flight tickets and a musical performance by the Trinity Band, all contributing to an energetic atmosphere. It didn’t end there, Paragons went home with exciting prizes, ranging from refrigerators to microwaves. Everyone also received a customized bag filled with goodies. The event also celebrated Past Rotary International Vice President Rtn. Yinka Babalola’s July 4 birthday.
The highlight of the event was an auction that culminated in a young Rotarian from the new Rotary Club of Eko Cosmopolitan winning a piece of land in a highly sought-after location. It concluded with a lively after-party. Overall, it was a joyful occasion filled with celebration.
In his address, DG Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin emphasized the need for quality healthcare for mothers and children to enhance community well-being. He announced that funding for district projects will come from fundraising events, donations, corporate partnerships, and Rotary Foundation grants, underscoring that unity and strategic planning can help overcome challenges.
Rtn. Olufemi Adenekan reflected on his past year’s achievements, thanking members for their support. He noted the growth of the district from 73 to 82 clubs, highlighting the introduction of innovative club types, including the first Passport Club and Satellite Club.
PAG Tolulope Onolaja, Chairperson of the Installation Planning Committee, expressed her gratitude to the Rotary family, specifically commending DG Rtn. Adedoyin for his dedicated service. She acknowledged the support of all attendees and emphasized her confidence in the upcoming Rotary year. Rtn. Tolu underscored the significance of collaboration in driving positive change within the community and expressed appreciation to sponsors, corporate partners, Rotarians, and everyone for their contributions.
The event was anchored by Rtn. Yemi Sodimu from the Rotary Club of Agege. Among those in attendance was Governor Babatunde Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, who delivered a goodwill message. The gathering also included District Governors from 9141 and 9127, with Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Chairman of Sifax Group of Companies, represented by Captain Ibrahim Olugbade.
The Special Guest of Honour was Senator Yisa Oyelola Ashiru, while the keynote address was given by PDG Dr. Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi. The Guest Speaker was Alhaji Ahmed Raji, founder and principal partner at Ahmed Raji and Co.
The royal fathers of the day included HRM Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland; HRM Oba Joel Olaniyi Olatoye, the Oloro of Oro Kingdom in Kwara State; and HRM Oba (Dr.) Francis Olusola Alao, the Olugbon of Orile Igbon Kingdom in Oyo State. They all bestowed their royal blessings upon the event.
