District 9112 Youth Summit Highlights

On Thursday, March 12, students gathered at NECA Hall, Alausa, for the District 9112 Youth Summit themed “Own Your Tomorrow: Skill Up and Clean Up.”

The event, organized by the Youth Service Committee chaired by Aliyu Umar, brought together vibrant and eager young minds ready to learn, grow, and be inspired.

The summit featured impactful sessions on key topics:

  • Mental Health by Dr. Babasola Adetiloye
  • Skill Development (Skill Up) by Mr. Amachree Ikijana
  • Depression and Suicide Awareness by Mr. Michael Ejoor

Each session equipped students with practical knowledge and insights for personal growth and well-being.

Speaking at the event, District Governor of Rotary International District 9112, Rtn. Lanre Adedoyin, encouraged students to build diverse friendships beyond their schools and to explore opportunities within Rotary. He highlighted the importance of joining Interact Clubs and emphasized Rotary’s commitment to youth empowerment.

To inspire attendees, DG Rtn. Lanre introduced outstanding Rotary Youth Exchange participants:

  • Dominic Adenekan (Brazil)
  • John (Germany)
  • Kifekachukwu Olohije Omoruan(Germany)

“These young ambassadors exemplify the global opportunities available through Rotary programs,” DG Rtn. Lanre added.

In his address, PAG Aliyu Umar urged students to become responsible, resilient, and forward-thinking leaders. He stressed the importance of mental health awareness, avoiding drug abuse and social vices, and developing relevant skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
