District Governor, Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin’s Message – April 2026: “The Environment Month”

Dear Distinguished Rotarians,

April is designated in the Rotary calendar as The Environment Month — a time to reflect on our collective responsibility to protect, preserve, and restore the natural world that sustains all life.

As Rotarians committed to Service Above Self, environmental stewardship is not a peripheral concern; it is central to the kind of world we wish to leave for generations yet unborn.

Through Rotary’s 7th Area of Focus — Supporting the Environment ,we are called to take purposeful action: to protect ecosystems, promote sustainable practices, and empower communities to live in harmony with their natural surroundings. Whether through tree-planting initiatives, clean-up campaigns, environmental education, or advocacy for cleaner energy, every act of service counts.

April 22 is observed globally as the World Earth Day, a moment for us to recommit to environmental action.

I encourage all Clubs in the District to mark this occasion with visible, impactful service activities that reflect the Rotary spirit.

April promises to be a full and rewarding month for the District, and I urge every Rotarian to actively participate in the series of programmes lined up.

We begin with the Easter celebrations from 3rd April to 6th April, a season of renewal and hope that resonates deeply with our values of fellowship and service.

On 4th April, our Monthly Online Rotary Education will focus on The Environment, providing a platform for learning, sharing, and inspiring action across our clubs. On the same day, the Rotary Awareness Day will be celebrated at the JJT Park, Alausa, Ikeja, a wonderful opportunity to connect with our communities in a relaxed, engaging setting.

I encourage Rotarians to come out in good numbers and bring their friends.

April 7 is the We Care Day — a District-wide expression of love and compassion to.ourselves and wellwishers.

The District Maiden Business Fair on April 17 and 18, a landmark event and a first of its kind in District 9112.

This Fair represents our commitment to economic empowerment and fusion of Rotary service with sustainable development.

As we pursue these programmes, I also wish to remind us of two enduring priorities that must never leave our focus: Membership Growth and The Rotary Foundation.

Every contribution to the Rotary Foundation, no matter the size, is an investment towards a better and safer world.

Our Clubs grow stronger when we grow in number and in diversity.

Rotary service is most meaningful when it addresses real humanitarian needs, and few needs are more urgent today than healing our Environment.

Let’s celebrate to ensure visible change and lasting impact.

Thank you as we Unite for Good.

Warm regards,

Lanre Adedoyin, FCIA
