The Presidents-Elect Learning Seminar (PELS) for Rotary International District 9112, held from March 27–28, 2026, has successfully concluded, equipping Presidents-elect with the knowledge and strategies needed to lead a successful 2026-2027 Rotary year themed “Create Lasting Impact.”

The event began, as is customary for Rotary gatherings, with a call to order and an address from District Governor Rtn. Lanre Adedoyin. Following this, PELS Coordinator Rtn. Nike Maiyaki delivered her address.

Rtn. Nike emphasized the importance of leaders looking beyond their one-year tenure. She encouraged Presidents-elect to concentrate on sustainable, life-changing projects and to embody Rotary’s principle of Service Above Self.

The seminar continued with the introduction of the incoming District Governor for the 2026–2027 term, Rtn. Layi Abidoye, by Past Assistant Governor (PAG) Tony Eigbokhan, who is the incoming District Executive Secretary (DES). Rtn. Layi shared a message from RI President-Elect Rtn. Olayinka Hakeem Babalola and outlined key goals for the 2026-2027 Rotary Year.

Notable guest speakers included Past District Governor (PDG) Engr. Adeniji Raji, who spoke on Day 1, and Oluwaseun Oriretan Adebisi, FCA, ACTI, who delivered a presentation on “The Nigeria Tax Act 2025: What Every Individual/Business Owner Must Know” on Day 2 of PELS.

– *Leading Rotarians* – PDG Deinde Shoga

– *RAGS and Fellowships as Opportunities for Membership Attraction* – PAG Chinedu Ebo

– *Engaging Your Members* – PDG Adewale Ogunbadejo

– *Attracting New Members* – DGN Uyi Sowobi

– *Strategies for New Club Development* – IPDG Femi Adenekan

*Day 2 of PELS included the following facilitators and topics:*

– *Public Speaking* – PDG Bola Oyebade

– *Running Your Club* – PDG Kola Sodipo

– *Conducting Meetings* – DGND Ehi Braimah

– *Fundraising for the Rotary Foundation* – PDG Jide Akeredolu

– *Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Rotary* – PAG Uzo Ogoazi

– *International Service – District Resource Network* – PDG Kamoru Omotosho

An open discussion session was held on accessing Rotary online tools, governance at the club level, and how to access the Rotary Foundation, facilitated by PAG Dr. Sunit Debroy, PDG Yomi Adewunmi, and PDG Deinde Shoga, respectively.

Additionally, Past President (PP) Richard Edi provided details on RYLA 2026, while PP Kemi Folurunso shared information on the incoming installation of the DG for 2026-2027. Zonal Coordinators and Assistant Governors met with the presidents-elect of the club they will oversee.

To conclude Day 1, a welcome party was held in the evening, reflecting the saying, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

The District Learning Facilitator is PDG Ifeyinwa Ejezie, while the Deputy District Learning Facilitator is PAG Segun Adewakun. The District Governor for 2026-2027 is Layi Abidoye.
