District Governor, Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin’s Message – March 2026: “Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Month”
*DISTRICT GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE FOR MARCH 2026*
Dear Distinguished Rotarians,
March is designated in the Rotary calendar as Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Month, a time to reflect on Rotary’s enduring commitment to one of humanity’s most fundamental needs — access to clean water, safe sanitation, and proper hygiene.
Through this vital Rotary’s Area of Focus, we have demonstrated that providing safe water is not merely about drilling wells and boreholes, it is about empowering communities with sustainable systems that improve health and enhance economic development.
The International Women’s Day comes up on 8th March in global recognition of women.
The World Water Day which is observed annually on March 22, reminds us of the need to protect and sustain our water resources.
Last month was a memorable one for us in District 9112.
The Rotary Foundation Fundraising Event was held on 8th February and was indeed a success in terms of fundraising and organization.
From the 13th to 19th February,
the Rotary International President, Fransceco Arezzo and his spouse,Anna Maria were in Nigeria which included a visit to our District.
The RI President accompanied by senior Rotary leaders including RI President Elect Yinka Babalola and The Rotary Foundation Trustee, Ijeoma Okoro paid a courtesy visit to our District and were warmly ushered in by the District Governor, other District leaders and Rotaractors, from where the team proceeded to the General Hospital,Odan, Lagos to inspect the star project of the Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro and subsequently attended the closing ceremony of the District 9112 Rotary Sports Festival.
The visit also included a Town Hall Meeting and Dinner with the Rotary International President jointly organized in collaboration with District 9111.
I thank immensely, all Rotarians, the Host Organizing Committee and Rotaractors for their unflinching cooperation and support for the RI President’s visit.
Membership growth and support for The Rotary Foundation remain our major priorities in the current Rotary year as all hands are on deck to ensure that we finish.
Rotary service is most meaningful when it addresses real humanitarian needs.
As we march forward, it should translate to a month of action, impact and life changing experience.
Thank you as we Unite for Good.
Warm regards,
Lanre Adedoyin, FCIA
District Governor 2025-2026
