The District Governor, Rotarian Olufemi Adenekan’s Message – March 2025- “Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Month”

Rotary International’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month

Clean Water, Better Health: Empowering Communities Through WASH

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

As we step into March, a month designated by Rotary International for Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), we are reminded of the crucial role clean water and proper sanitation play in the health and well-being of our communities. This focus area underscores Rotary’s long-standing commitment to improving lives—starting with our very first humanitarian service project in 1907, when the Rotary Club of Chicago installed ” public continence”in the city. Since then, Rotary’s dedication to WASH has led to millions of transformative service projects across the globe.

From the start of this Rotary year, I have had the privilege of commissioning several WASH projects on behalf of many clubs, each making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve. I deeply appreciate your dedication and commitment to creating lasting change.

As we embrace this month, let us renew our focus on WASH—a cause central to human dignity, public health, and community development. Access to clean water and sanitation is not just a necessity; it is a fundamental right that millions still lack, leading to disease, malnutrition, and lost opportunities for education and economic growth.

As Rotarians, we have both the power and the responsibility to change this reality in our communities within District 9112 and beyond. Through our collective efforts, we can:

✅ Support local WASH projects that provide sustainable solutions for clean water and sanitation.
✅ Collaborate with partners to expand our impact and reach even more communities.
✅ Raise awareness about the global WASH crisis and inspire others to take action.

By working together, we can create a ripple effect of positive change—one that transforms communities, protects public health, and ensures a brighter future for generations to come.

Thank you for your unwavering service and dedication. Let us continue to create the Magic of Rotary in everything we do.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Olufemi Adenekan
Pioneer District Governor
