District Governor, Rotarian Olufemi Adenekan’s Message – May 2025: Youth Service Month

Dear Fellow Rotarians,Happy Workers’ Day!

As we welcome the month of May, we are reminded of Rotary’s enduring commitment to empowering young people.

May is Youth Service Month—a time to spotlight the incredible potential of our youth and reaffirm our dedication to nurturing them as the leaders of today and tomorrow.

This month holds special significance for us in District 9112 as we mark a major milestone in our shared mission of service.

We are proud to announce the inaugural scholarship awards of the District Educational and Welfare Endowment Fund (DEWEF) to 102 brilliant but underprivileged students across our district on Wednesday, 7th May 2025.

This is more than a gift—it is an investment in potential, in dreams, and in the future of our communities. Each scholarship represents hope: the belief that every young person, regardless of financial background, deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to society.

This historic achievement was made possible through your generosity, passion, and unwavering commitment to service. It is a powerful demonstration of how Rotary creates lasting change—in ourselves, in our communities, and across the world.

In the spirit of unity and progress, we will also gather this month in the historic city of Abeokuta for our Pioneer District Conference, taking place from 22nd to 25th May 2025.

This will be a moment to reflect on our journey, celebrate our accomplishments, and chart a bold course for the future of District 9112. I encourage every Rotarian to attend, participate fully, and leave inspired to do even more.Let us continue to empower our youth, uplift our communities, and embody the Rotary spirit of Service Above Self.
